Benjamin Aubron has become the first French rider to pilot a Monte winner in Australian harness racing.
Aubron guided four-year-old Yankee Spider/Lunar Landing mare Illawong Moonshine to an impressive win in the Faggs Mitre 10 Monte tonight at Geelong.
Aubron rode a patient race aboard the Jodi Quinlan trained trotter, who dashed clear of early leader Mister Gunsen at the home corner before scoring an easy win.
The winner stopped the clock at 2:03.1 for the one-mile journey.
