"Team Im Corzin Terror" after the Ballarat Pacing Cup.
Petstock Ballarat Pacing Cup winner Im Corzin Terror will head to Tasmania to contest the $40,000 Tasmania Cup on Sunday.
Trainer Amanda Grieve said the seven-year-old Western Terror/Corzanello gelding’s Bray Raceway victory on Saturday night was “a surprise” but added the horse had been “going good”.
“He had no luck at Cranbourne when he was making ground along inside,” she said.
“He was up to his right trip and he went really well on Saturday night.”
Driven by Chris Alford, Im Corzin Terror found the lead early in the four-horse field after the race was decimated by late scratchings.
Alford and Im Corzin Terror got away with cheap splits (31.7 and 29.4 first and second quarters) before sprinting home in 53.9 seconds for the final 800m, clocking a mile rate of 1:59.7.
"It was a great drive," Greive said.
“We’ll go Tasmania at the weekend. Then we’ll have the Bendigo Cup and hopefully defend his title and the Shepparton Cup and then on to the Victoria Cup.”
Grieve said the weekend’s win didn’t enormously change Im Corzin Terror’s summer plans, the HRV Summer of Glory jewels – the Victoria and Hunter Cups – still very much the aim.
However, the automatic entry for the Victoria Cup secured at Ballarat will certainly prove handy.
“It just helps us plan his campaign out a bit and not worry about getting a start in the race,” she said.
