Driver Colin Brown with Skye Bond (right)
Punters who want to go home on a winning note at Gloucester Park on tonight should invest on Simply Susational, who has the ability to overcome the disadvantage of starting out wide at the No. 6 barrier on the front line in the final event, the 1730m Farewell Ian Brandon Pathway Pace.
Simply Susational, to be driven by Colin Brown for trainers Greg and Skye Bond, showed that he would be hard to beat with a spirited performance last Friday night when he started from barrier two on the back line and finished powerfully from sixth at the bell to be a close second to the pacemaker and stablemat5e Jumbo Jet over 2130m.
The likely main rivals for Simply Susational are the other four-year-olds in the race, Better Pack A Pistol and High Courage.
First treble for Lauren Jones
Nineteen-year-old Queenslander Lauren Jones hit the high spot of her burgeoning career when she landed a treble at Gloucester Park on Monday afternoon.
She drove skilfully to win with Avalon Bromac (7/4 on), Bettor Rules (6/1) and Hes Ritehererightnow (11/1).
These three winners took Jones into sixth position on the metropolitan drivers’ premiership list with nine wins, five seconds and four thirds from 45 drives.
Jones was thrilled at her performance and said that her previous best effort had been a double at the Queensland country track of Marburg.
