Harness Racing New South Wales (HRNSW) conducts the commercial and regulatory functions of the harness racing industry in NSW. Operating under the Harness Racing Act 2009, HRNSW is chartered to operate autonomously of government in managing the strategic and commercial development of harness racing in NSW as a not-for-profit corporate body.

A full-time vacancy exists for Media Manager, based in Sydney. This is a newly created position following the successful introduction of the harnessmediacentre.com.au website.

This position requires an experience person in digital media platforms who is innovative and motivated to help develop and grow the website.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer the successful applicant will be required to undertake the following tasks:

  • Manage the media team, inclusive of the service provider;
  • Manage and develop relationships with external suppliers and other relevant parties;
  • Plan, implement, review and evaluate digital strategies and channels;
  • Investigating new media channels;
  • Integrating and linking media output;
  • Developing content across all channels;
  • Managing production schedules;
  • Drive the change from printed to digital platforms for industry publications and output;
  • Presenting and on screen appearances on Trots TV and other media channels
  • Set strategic direction for the media Centre;
  • Seek sponsorship for the media centre:

 

This Role requires work outside of normal business hours, and includes nights, weekends and public holidays.

The applicant should have the following skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the key policy directions of and challenges facing HRNSW, the Principal Club and the NSW racing industry in the media and digital sphere.
  • High level ability to develop and implement a strategic approach to stakeholder engagement and management.
  • Demonstrated capacity to develop and implement digital and media strategic and business plans.
  • Self motivated and ability to work within tight deadlines and with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Superior written and verbal communications skills.
  • Experience in managing key digital channels for mid sized organisations;
  • Understanding of the racing industry, preferably harness
  • Ability to operate strategically; think innovatively and demonstrate expertise in digital media;
  • Knowledge of television, radio, mobile, online and social media;
  • Work in a team culture that is responsive to change and is outcome driven;
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and leading a creative team;
  • Understanding of the latest in technology;
  • Develop strong relationships with third parties (eg Harness Racing Clubs and Associations, other presenters, journalists);
  • Manage production schedules for digital and media output;
  • Undertake marketing and sponsorship activities;

The successful applicant will be provided a remuneration package based upon their relevant experience.
