Tandias Bromac is absolutely flying.
A big weekend may be looming for the Amanda Grieve/Chris Alford combination.
The Avalon trainer and the superstar reinsman combine on Friday night at Tabcorp Park with Tandias Bromac in the Harness Breeders (Vic) Tailamade Lombo before pairing up again on Sunday in the $25,505 Central Goldfields Shire Maryborough Gold Cup with Im Corzin Terror.
Alford believes both horses can win.
He said Tandias Bromac was in great form and “the class mare” of the field.
“She’s been racing really well for six months now,” Alford said.
“We’ll probably work forward. Blazeaway Macray probably leads but we’ve sat outside her and beaten her before.”
Alford says Emma Stewart trained Beauty Secret is the main danger to Tandias Bromac, with veteran Broadways Best also some chance of figuring in the finish despite a back-row draw.
Im Corzin Terror, which won last year's Maryborough Gold Cup, opened $2.20 favourite with TAB fixed odds for Sunday.
The seven-year-old gelding has won 16 races from 57 starts and went within a half-neck of defeating Guaranteed at Kilmore last Sunday.
“Another few strides and we would have won,” Alford said.
“It was a great run. And there’s no Guaranteed this week. He’s the class runner of the field.”
Handicappers have placed Michael Stanley trained and driven Hilltop Hustler behind the 10-metre tape, the same mark as veteran gelding Jaccka Clive and country cups regular Uncle Wingnut.
Up-and-coming five-year-old Itdontmattertome will start from pole if emergency Jack In Flight fails to gain a run, the Amanda Turnbull trained and driven son of Mach Three an impressive last-start Kilmore winner.
