Kvintet Avenger has impressed at all his Australian runs to date.
Brent Lilley trained trotter Kvintet Avenger will take a power of beating in Sunday’s Avoca – Maryborough Community Bank Branches Maryborough Trotters Cup.
The son of European stallion Love You and US bred broodmare Nobes Hanover has looked every bit a rising star since arriving Down Under, winning four of five starts and finishing runner-up to Lysenko at his one defeat.
“He’s done everything right,” Lilley said.
“We’re drawn the front line on Sunday and if we can find the top he’ll definitely give them something to catch.”
Kvintet Avenger won the Swan Hill Trotters Cup a fortnight ago by 2.7 metres over Wildenstein, leading throughout over 2790 metres from the stand-start conditions.
Rodney Petroff will pilot Kvintet Avenger on Sunday.
Ross Sugars trained mare Quite A Moment has drawn alongside Kvintet Avenger on Sunday, the daughter of Quite A Moment/Juverna coming off a 1.1-metre defeat in the Kilmore Trotters Cup won by El Paco last Sunday.
Quite A Moment has strong form in metropolitan trots and won the John Slack Memorial Trot at this venue in July.
Others who punters will give strong claims to include David Aiken trained Thanesan, Geoff Webster’s Action Kosmos, last-start Kilmore winner Hinault for Kerryn Manning and Kari Males trained duo Tsonga and Tender Don.
Eight-year-old squaregaiter Michael Thomas, who won last year’s Maryborough Trotters Cup, resumes from a long spell in the race and will be off 10 metres for trainer/driver Lisa Miles.
Alan Dunsmuir has two runners in the Trotters Cup, Maori’s Pocket and Buntys Bass, while Margaret Davies trained Dabbsey and last-start Horsham winner Hozatfora Sundon (from the Nick Edwards camp) round out a strong field for the $16,505, 2690-metre race.
