MEDIA RELEASE

HRSA formally wishes to advise that a race fall occurred at Globe Derby Park yesterday (Monday 27 October). The incident occurred during Race 6 when the horse racing outside the leader galloped and fell at the 600m mark.

As a result several other horses were severely interfered with and the drivers dislodged.  The drivers involved were Shane Loone, Ryan Hryhorec, Terry Brown and Pat Carbone. All drivers received injuries to varying degrees.

With the exception of Pat Carbone, all Drivers were seen by ambulance officers and cleared to continue driving. Mr Carbone sustained a fractured femur and broken ankle, and was transferred to hospital for surgery. We understand that he is currently in recovery.

HRSA would like to extend our best wishes to the drivers who were injured in the race fall yesterday, and wish them all a speedy recovery.
