The very best of the 2013-14 racing season’s breeding achievements will be recognised at the Metro Printing Victorian Breeders Awards Night (VBAN) on Saturday 22 November in the Winning Post Room of the Shepparton Harness Racing Complex.

A highlight this year will be the awarding of the International Racehorse Transport Australian Broodmare of the Year – already announced - to Alldatglittersisgold by Harness Racing Australia. This is the mare’s second consecutive Winona Award and in recent years she has been bred to by a partnership including Harshell Investments, managed by HBV member, Harvey Kaplan.

Also being awarded at this year’s VBAN is the Nevele R Victorian Pacing Broodmare of the Year, the Niota Bloodstock Victorian Trotting Broodmare of the Year (a new addition to the awards schedule), the Benstud Standardbreds Ian Daff Memorial Victorian Breeder of the Year and the Pryde’s EasiFeeds Victorian Sire of the Year.

The dinner is always well attended and this year’s shift to a regional venue in the heart of Standardbred breeding country will ensure a good representation from Victorian breeders but also harness racing fans generally.

Tickets are now on sale at $60, which includes a welcome drinks package and three-course meal. Tickets may be purchased by the general public using the booking form available on the Harness Breeders Victoria website or Facebook Page.

An optional tour program has been offered in 2014 with Empire Stallions stud, Alabar Bloodstock stud and retired racehorse retraining facility, Raising The Standards opening their gates to visitors across the weekend.

Awards are also given for Group 1 winners, including Vicbred champions, Juvenile & Broodmare Sires of the Year, and 2YO, 3YO & Open Age Pacing & Trotting Champions. Time excellence pins are presented to member-bred, Vicbred horses who recorded an exceptional time throughout the season.
