Dining bookings for Kilmore Harness Racing Club’s feature race day this Sunday have already exceeded last year’s and the club is expecting even more to come along on the day given the glorious weather forecast.

The bureau of meteorology is tipping a 28-degree day for the annual Kilmore Pacing Cup program, pristine conditions for a day at the trots.

“We’ve exceeded package sales from last year already, which has been really encouraging,” said Kilmore Racing CEO Ben Murphy.

“The support we receive from the community and the membership base here at the club is fantastic.

“We’ve already filled the dining room and the alfresco areas, but we’ll always find more room for anyone who wants to come along and book an area on the day.”

Murphy said Kilmore Harness Racing Club had a strong relationship with its local community and good ties with local media such as the North Central Review and 98.3 OKR FM, which help the club sell its messages.

“We’ve got a strong trots community here and we want to put on top-quality days for the community because of the strong support they show us,” Murphy said.

Topliner Guaranteed will start in Sunday’s feature race, the Jet Roofing Kilmore Pacing Cup, while rising star Maximan brings plenty of X-factor to the 3150-metre Group 2, $60,505 event.

“It’s great to have horses like Guaranteed wanting to take part in the race,” Murphy said.

“We’re really rapt with the field.

“The fact the winner is exempt from ballot for the Hunter Cup helps attract quality horses and we’re very proud of our place at the start of what is sure to be another great TAB.com.au Trots Country Cups season.”

Harness Racing Victoria’s popular Trots Selfies competition, which was launched last Saturday night at Swan Hill, will again give on-course patrons the chance to win a $1000 TAB voucher just by uploading their “selfie” on to www.facebook.com/trotselfies

The $20,275 All Equip Constructions Popular Alm Sprint is also on the program, a time-honoured event whose past winners include superstars such as Smoken Up and Melpark Major.

Two-time Kilmore Cup winner Bitobliss has drawn the pole for the sprint this Sunday.

Dining packages are still available. For prices, more information or to book phone the club on 03 5783 0700.
