The sunshine state will be represented by leading reinsmen Pete McMullen and Mathew Neilson in the inaugural Australian Drivers Championship at Globe Derby Park in Adelaide this Saturday night.
The Queensland duo will compete against the best drivers from around the country in a six race series.
Other competing drivers include Blake Fitzpatrick & Amanda Turnbull (NSW), Chris Alford & Greg Sugars (VIC), Gareth Rattray & Ricky Duggan (TAS), Gary Hall Jnr & Chris Voak (WA) while David Harding & Ryan Hryhorec represent the host state.
McMullen, a runner-up behind Grant Dixon in the state premiership for the past four seasons is set to smash the record for the youngest drivers to post 1000 career victories.
The record currently belongs to Amada Turnbull who set the mark in June at the age of 24 years and four months while McMullen has 971 victories.
McMullen celebrated his 23rd birthday in August.
The third generation horseman commenced his driving career during the 2007/08 season and drove career high 191 winners during the 2010/11 season.
McMullen represented his home state during the 2010 Australasian Young Drivers Championship staged in Sydney.
During the recent Brisbane winter carnival, the aggressive young driver partnered champion pacer Im Themightyquinn at Albion Park for trainer Gary Hall.
Neilson is no stranger to success in the bike either.
The master tactician commenced his driving career during the 1998/99 season and managed to 15 races from his first 56 drives.
After moving to Queensland from Newcastle to gain further experience, the lightweight reinsman hasn’t looked back and currently sits with 1695 lifetime victories and amassing close to $8 million in prizemoney.
Neilson has recorded eight century seasons which includes one double.
During the 2002/03 season, Neilson became the first Queensland driver to register a double century after landing 204 winners.
Neilson represented Queensland during the 2002 Australasian Young Drivers Championship in Sydney.
Last season, McMullen won 174 races in Queensland while Neilson collected 156 races.
The drivers will accumulate points across a six-race series with performances factored into the selection of the drivers to represent Australia at the World Driving Championships in Sydney next year.
Racing Queensland wishes both reinsmen the very best of luck.
