Harness Racing Victoria is seeking expressions of interest from individuals keen to work as a Starter, on a casual basis, at harness racing meetings throughout Victoria.
Reporting to the Stewards on race days, the Starter is responsible for conducting mobile and standing starts at harness racing meetings in accordance with the Australian Rules of Harness Racing. The Starter plays an important role to protect the integrity and good reputation of harness racing in Victoria.
This role requires the successful applicant to travel to Victorian day/night harness meetings, so the ability to work flexible hours which include evenings and week ends is a must.
You will be required to work around horses so proven horsemanship skills are essential.
Ideally you will have an interest in harness racing and possess a strong work ethic, with the ability to identify problems and act quickly. You will also have some knowledge of the Australian Rules of Harness Racing and the wagering industry.
A current valid Victorian Drivers licence is essential.
