Geelong Harness Racing Club is one of the leading harness racing clubs in Victoria conducting 26 race meetings per year. Based at Beckley Park, Corio the Club has a long history and connection with the Geelong area that can be traced back to 1841 with the running of our first race meeting.
The Role
Harness Racing Victoria is assisting the Club to recruit a ‘hands on’, self-motivated and experienced Business & Community Engagement Manager to take responsibility for all business development and promotional activities on behalf of the Club.
This is a unique autonomous role that is critical to the ongoing success of the Club. Reporting directly to the Committee, you will be required to:
- Drive revenue opportunities including sponsorships, functions & memberships
- Develop new commercial partnerships and maintain existing ones
- Foster relationships within the local community to promote the Club
This is a part time role working approx. 25 hours per week.
What you need
- Proven management experience in a sales/ business development role with a track record in identifying, developing and creating business opportunities
- Ability to build effective relationships
- Strong business acumen
- Demonstrated ability to use own initiative and be a self-starter
- Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
- The ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and weekends
We are looking for someone with passion and enthusiasm, who can engage with the Geelong community and surrounds and who is able to identify and grow opportunities and ‘own the role’.You will be able to demonstrate your record of achieving results and building networks.
Although not essential an interest in racing or prior experience working in a Club environment reporting to a Committee would be advantageous.
Attractive remuneration including bonuses is offered commensurate with experience.
