Kate Gath drove a winning double today at Cranbourne.
Andy Gath’s good form continued today at Cranbourne with a winning double.
Gath combined with reinswoman wife Kate to post victory with Changeable in Race 4, the Seelite Windows and Doors Pace over 1609 metres, and in Race 6, the Condo’s Horse Transport Pace, with stable newcomer Qtown Rip Roaring.
The latter, an impressive son of Courage Under Fire/Zara Rose, sat parked in the breeze from his gate six draw in the six-horse field before overpowering Eyes On The Sky in the home stretch for a 2.1-metre victory.
Qtown Rip Roaring looked to over-race a shade early but Gath was able to keep him under control and get him to eventually settle better.
Turning for home Qtown Rip Roaring set out after Gavin Lang on Eyes On The Sky and, despite having had the much cushier run, Eyes On The Sky was no match for the Gath four-year-old.
Qtown Rip Roaring started $1.50 with Eyes On The Sky clear second pick in the market at odds of $3.80.
Blue Seelster finished third for trainer Peter Thompson and reinsman Chris Alford.
Meanwhile, junior reinswomen Mary Elliott and Monique Burnett both drove winners at the Cranbourne meeting.
Elliott combined with local trainer Michael Hughes to win the Aldebaran Park Trot at $11.10, while Burnett drove Somethingsgotagive, a four-year-old gelding, to victory in the Aussie Home Loans Pace.
And capping a great day for women drivers was Jodi Quinlan taking out the Trio’s After the Last Pace aboard Craig Demmler trained Christian Torado - giving the reinswomen five wins from eight races.
