There were some raised eyebrows when the then General Manager of Gloucester Standardbreds, Donna Riordan bought a just turned yearling trotter in Victoria from Alabar Stud and six months later offered it as Lot 37 in the 2009 Gloucester Standardbreds WA Yearling Sale.

The yearling by Earl from Dainty Dolly was bought by Max Wimbridge and Dora Usher for $5000 and then sent back across to Victoria where, after winning as a four year old he was sold to Victorian owners.

Earl Of Charity returned to Western Australia in October 2013 after being bought by Terry Wegner and Dawn Fyfe who last month sold the now 7yo to Brett Archibald, Michael Young and Courtney Burch who gave the gelding to Gary Hall to train.

Last night Earl Of Charity won first-up for Hall and took his earnings past the $50,000 mark.

It was his fourth win in his past five starts.

Entries for the 2015 Gloucester Standardbreds WA Yearling Sale close on Friday 19th September and while there may not be any trotting bred yearlings on offer next February who knows what may eventuate a year or two down the track.
