The younger sister to Victoria Trotters Derby winner Illawong Helios will be offered for auction on September 28.

Dr Martin Hartnett, one of Victoria's most successful breeders and owners for over 40 years and whose horses carry the 'Illawong' moniker, has decided to reduce his racing and breeding stock.

Martin and his wife, Kaye, will put 52 lots through the ring at their Nagambie property on Sunday, September 28, starting at 12.30pm.

The offering includes broodmares, racing and young untried stock, rising two-year-olds, yearlings and stallion services.

One of the most attractive lots will be the younger full sister to this year's Victoria Trotters Derby winner Illawong Helios (Majestic Son-Shining Sun).

Other horses likely to command plenty of interest include last-start three-year-old winner Illawong Libby; Classy Sheila (dam of unbeaten Barimah 3, 1:55.8); Miss Astronomical (1/2 sister to Safari); Illawong Fabulous (dam of Illawong Fantasia); Myrina, the dam of last-start Melton winner Crazy Dave 1:55.5; Illawong Jewel, the mother of Royal Deviate 1:55.1 and Illawong Joyful 1:57.2; Illawong Phoebe (close relative of Pure Steel) and Thats A Shame (7 wins).

The mares are in-foal to highly regarded sires such as Mach Three, Western Terror, Shadow Play, Auckland Reactor, Life Sign, Major In Art, Shadyshark Hanover and Tintin In America.

The sale of horses will be preceded by an auction of harness, sulkies, rugs and other sundry items.
