2013/14 Harness Racing Awards up for grabs

With the final meeting of the 2013/14 Harness Racing season to be held this Friday 22 August the Hopkins Saddlery Trainers Award with a SCORPION Race sulky valued at $4955 is a battle between Andy Channells who is currently on 33 points and Scott Ewen on 31 points.

Five trainer’s names are drawn out each meeting on a 5-4-3-2-1 basis and the trainer with the most points at the end of the season wins the Scorpoin Sulky, this is so that every trainer has a chance to win the prize. The five names will be drawn out on the track on Friday night by Colin Henderson from Hopkins and either Andy or Scott would be a worthy winner.

Scott Ewen in also in a tight battle for the leading driver award for the season with Ryan Hryhorec, coming into this Friday night’s meeting Ryan in on 280 and Scott is only one point behind on 279 so with points for this award being five for a win, three for second and one for a third placing it will be a battle right to the finish this Friday.

The other main awards having been decided with Nickelmeldon winning the leading horse, Lyndon Hall the Leading Trainer & Halls Harness Racing the leading owner.
