The Board of HRSA has approved a change to the prizemoney breakdowns for races in South Australia. In September 2012 prizemoney for all races of $5,000 or more began being paid back to last; at the same time this was also introduced for all 2 & 3yo events carrying a 2C or 3C penalty.

The Board has agreed to extend the races that will receive unplaced payments and at the same time will adjust placed percentages in line with this.

The new breakdowns will be

All Races over $2000 including features, but excluding 2 & 3yo $4,000 or $8,000 races.

1st – 64.5%, 2nd - 14.5%, 3rd – 9.0%, 4th – 3.0%, 5th to Last – 1.5%

2yo & 3yo ($4,000 & $8,000 races)

1st – 61.0%, 2nd - 16.0%, 3rd – 9.0%, 4th – 5.0%, 5th to Last – 1.5%

These percentages are applied after taking out the drivers fees as a first charge. Samples of the new breakdowns inc. drivers fees are:

  $5,400 $4,500 $3500 $2500
First  $3,265 $2,684.50 $2,094 $1449
Second $765 $634.50 $494   $349
Third $490 $409 $318 $228
Fourth $190 $163 $126 $96
5th – Last $115 $101.50 $78 $63
2yo & 3yo   $8,000   $4,000
First   $4,676   $2,287
Second   $1,256   $622
Third   $724   $363
Fourth   $420   $215
5th – Last   $154    $85.5

At this stage races of $2,000 or less will remain at the current breakdown percentages.

These changes will take effect from Monday September 1.
