With the 11 year term of Ross Cooper as the Harness representative on the Board of Racing and Wagering Western Australia (RWWA) expiring yesterday, so too does Ross' position on the Harness Racing Australia (HRA) Executive.

Ross has been an outstanding contributor since joining the HRA Executive when it expanded to include all States in 2009.  He immediately assumed the position of Treasurer and has performed a number of other critical roles during this time, including Chairing both the Constitution and Handicapping Reviews in 2009, being an Australian representative on the Inter Dominion Event Committee (until March 2014) and currently leading the Wagering Working Party work - a role he will retain until completed later this year.

Ross has also been a strong supporter of international industry relations, having attended four World Trotting Conferences and Chairing the Animal Welfare Committee at three of these.

This contribution is testament to Ross' love of the harness racing industry, his experience and his ability to see the big picture and aspire to national or even international solutions - all the while managing to balance strong support for his home State of Western Australia, which has also performed well under Ross' leadership.

HRA wishes to extend its sincere thanks to Ross and his effervescent wife Landra for their untiring contribution to our sport.

Harness Racing South Australia (HRSA) Chairman, Mark Carey, was endorsed as HRA Treasurer at the most recent Executive Meeting and will assume this role until at least the AGM in October 2014.
