Tabcorp Park Melton is playing host to the Geelong HRC fixture being held on Thursday, with juvenile racing for Fillies (Vicbred Platinum Series) taking pride of place on the program.
Race Two kicks off the series – the main chances being Sunraysia visitor Tahilia May for the Merbein father and son combination of Ian and Luke Watson and Emma Stewart’s Licinda, a winner on debut in March.
Two interesting runner are debutantes Starzzz Of Icon (Four Starzz Shark/Classical Truscott) for Melton’s Susan Hunter and Grande Anse a fully Canadian bred daughter of Mach Three and Child From The Sea prepared by astute Lemnos (Shepparton) trainer Russell Jack.
Sportswriter/Benilise filly Niki No No trained by Kari Males at Bolinda and successful on debut at Maryborough last week for Media personality Rob Auber and partners will be one of the main chances in Heat Two, however Chris Alford’s Bubbling Gypsy resuming from a slight let-up is likely to figure in the finish as well.
The beautifully bred first starter Ebonyallstarzz (Four Starzzz Shark/Life Inthefastlane) trained at Doreen by John Yeomans with Gavin Lang in the sulky will attract plenty of attention, as will Ruth Shinn’s Shishi, Bret Cargill’s Saint Grace and Emma Stewart’s Elpoco Diablo in an interesting contest .
The Third Heat looks a contest between Emma Stewart’s Lovelist (Always A Virgin/Lifeline) who was a big winner at Maryborough on April 7 when facing the starter for the first time and Wayne Potter’s Naevia (Sportswriter/Morgan Abbey) who was an all the way winner on debut at Maryborough in February, before running unplaced behind Enjay Speedstar at Melton in March.
Almihata heavily supported when unplaced at Maryborough last week behind Niki No No should be prominent as should Ian Stanley’s Ablazing Spirit coming off a fourth behind Viva Safari at Melton and Leigh Miles’ Locks Of Gold who ran a creditable fourth behind Ricimer at Melton two weeks ago.
Ruth Shinn’s Aurore, a daughter of Dawn Ofa New Day and Auriella the dam of five time winner Castro (Western Terror) will take plenty of watching.
The ten race program catering for all classes commences at 5-17pm.
