Macha looks to be one of the shining lights for the Dean Braun stable.

Astute Lara trainer Dean Braun who works so hard at his trade, capped off a magnificent season by chalking up his 100th home state winner for the season when Elsu/Prima Bella gelding Watch This Spot scored in the Oktoberfest @ Lord’s Raceway 2YO Pace over 2150 metres at Bendigo on Tuesday August 27.

Driven by Chris Alford, Watch This Spot was taken back from gate three in the small five horse field to settle four back the markers, with Brian Gath taking the second elect Rumour Monger to the front shortly after the start.

Easing away from the markers to trail Decileight in the final circuit, Watch This Spot (three wide home turn) cruised to the wire 5.8 metres in advance of Sutter Man which followed his every move, with Big Bang Leonard using the sprint lane off the back of the leader to finish third. The mile rate 2-00.5.

Braun and Alford had earlier in the night snared the Staffordshire Park Trotters Handicap for T3 or better class over 2150 metres with highly promising Love You/Dreamlands Nancy three-year-old gelding Our Dreamlover in rate of 2-03.1, scoring by an unextended margin of 9.3 metres in advance of Wildenstein which trailed after leading out, with the in-form mare Cookeyslass (three back the markers) third.

Dean Braun was also victorious in winning the Cranbourne HRC Trainers Premiership this season, as well as feature races in New Zealand, NSW, Queensland, WA and Tasmania – a superb effort for someone who usually never has more than 25 horses in work at any given time.
