Star New South Wales mare Ashlees Babe (pictured) is on target to win back-to-back Vicbred Super Series Finals after an emphatic semi final win last night at Moonee Valley.

Despite drawing inside the second line in next week?s $100,000 Group 1 final, she?ll start a long odds-on favourite to add the four-year-old crown to the three-year-old title she captured as a $1.20 favourite last year.

After a somewhat shaky start to the season, the Peter Morris Jnr-trained mare has relished the return to her own age and sex as evidenced by last night?s arrogant win.

With big race specialist Gavin Lang driving confidently, Ashlees Babe ($1.40) put paid to her rivals in the twinkling of an eye, sprinting from last-to-first to comfortably account for outsiders Lombo Silhouette ($26.90) and Golden Slippa ($35.30).

In the other semi final, classy sit-sprinter Awesomely ($6) enjoyed the perfect trail to upstage odds-on favourite Aleppo Lady ($1.40) who only battled into third placing. Gallant leader Under The Mattress ($9) hung on to the quinella spot.

Trainer Ruth Shinn will be hoping for better luck in next week?s lucrative showdown than last year?s three-year-old final where Awesomely fell behind Ashlees Babe. The duo are two of five horses returning from that Vicbred Super Series.

The field for the $100,000 Vicbred Super Series 4YO Mares Final (Group 1), to be run over 2570 metres at Moonee Valley next Thursday night, 8 April, is;
