Smoken Up will parade for the big crowd at Boort on Sunday.
Sunday will mark an important day in the state’s central-north when Boort will run their annual Cup Meeting.
Patrons on track will be lucky enough to see one of Australia’s great pacers in Smoken Up parade for the crowd prior to the Cup. For those in the region there won’t be many better opportunities to get so close to the champion.
The Loddon Valley Stud Boort Pacing Cup itself, was last year won by Yucatchim, and has again drawn together a field including Arber, Baltic Ice and Daylight Dan.
In addition the day will also feature the Doyle’s Boomspraying Boort Trotters Cup where Imagunnadogood will be hoping to make amends for his slender defeat in last year’s edition.
In the Graham Eeles Saddlery Trainers Premiership, Glenn Douglas holds a narrow margin over Geoff Webster and Emma Stewart who are hot on his heels.
This Sunday will bring a close on the series and as Douglas is the only trainer of the three front-runners with representatives on the day, he looks certain to take the victory unless another trainer can perform a miracle.
Stewart has won the past two years – including a tie with Joanne Justice last year – however this year the title won’t be travelling back to Smythes Creek.
The Hyland Sportswear Drivers Premiership sees Glenn Douglas again in the lead, just ahead of last year’s winner Chris Alford and Gavin Lang.
In hot pursuit are Emmett Brosnan, Geoff Webster John Caldow and Kerryn Manning.
The tight battle should ensure an exciting day for the drivers on the Loddon Valley Stud Boort Pacing Cup program.
There will also be plenty for patrons to focus on off the track with a whole heap of entertainment planned for the day.
There will be Fashions on the Field for those wanting to dress up and try to share in some exciting prizes. There won’t just be prizes for the Fashions on the Field however; the kids will be able to have a go at winning an iPad in a raceday competition.
The first 500 adults through the gate who wear green will get their day off to a great start with a free racebook thrown in.
Given the St Patricks day theme there will even be a Leprechaun toss competition, where you will get the chance to throw a stuffed toy as far as you can. It is going to get even better though, because there will be flame throwers on-course to keep the kids excited.
If you need a holiday you have come to the right place, there will be prizes which include trips to Noosa and Launceston, so there is no excuse not to be on track Sunday afternoon.
