Victorian iron horse Sokyola is favoured to continue his country cup splurge this Saturday night after drawing gate four in the $75,000 Cadbury Ballarat Pacing Cup.

A winner of the Geelong, Mildura, Terang and Bendigo Cups during the past 12 months, the Lance Justice-trained superstar is a $2.70 favourite to post his 53rd race victory and upstage a stellar field of Australia and New Zealand?s elite pacers.

The battle for the early lead may dictate the result of the Group 2 feature with SEW-Eurodrive Victoria Cup champion Double Identity (gate one) and New Zealand ?smokey? Jagged Account (gate three), a noted early speedster, drawn on his inner.

Double Identity sits on the second line of betting at $4, but with local hero Gavin Lang replacing the suspended Harry Martin his popularity could see that price tumble.

Mister D G (gate nine) and Just An Excuse (gate 10), the remaining members of a three-pronged New Zealand assault on Bray Raceway, have been kept safe at $5 and $6 respectively despite their second line draws.

The Cadbury Ballarat Pacing Cup is THE official lead-up race to the $400,000 Hankook Tyres Hunter Cup on 28 February at Moonee Valley ? night two of the Sky Channel Nights Of Glory ? and rightfully the club have been blessed with one of the best fields assembled this season. Collectively the 12 runners have amassed 254 wins and boast stake earnings of $4.4 million.
