Come On Frank, arguably Australia’s favourite pacer, will travel from his South Australian base next month to compete at Tabcorp Park Menangle. The son of Blissful Hall won last season’s Four Year Old Entires and Geldings Vicbred Final at Melton and trainer Darren Billinger is keen to target the metropolitan racing in New South Wales.

“Come On Frank is only assessed M1 and there is no metropolitan racing in South Australia, so with the strong prizemoney in New South Wales and a track like Menangle it makes sense to head to Sydney with a team,” Billinger said.

“I was up in Sydney last week and I had a look at a couple of places where we could stable the horses, both Robbie Morris and Jack Primmer have sensational set-ups but I think the horses will stay with Robbie because it is a little bit closer to accommodation where Julie and I can stay.”

After winning the Vicbred Final Billinger gave Come On Frank nine weeks in the paddock but the trainer is having a problem gauging the gelding’s fitness.

“He’s not the best of trackworkers so it is hard to know how good he is actually going but as soon as he gets to the races he switches into another gear.”

“At this stage I would think he would have a couple of runs in Adelaide and then make the trip to Sydney in mid-October, we haven’t really set a timeframe on how long we will stay, it depends what his form is like.”

Come On Frank will not be the only horse Billinger campaigns in Sydney after he claimed two horses at Melton on Friday night after the Battle Of The Claimers Final.

“Yes we claimed two fast class horses last week and were lucky enough to win the ballot for Few Good Men and we also claimed Albert Jaccka so they will both make the trip.”

“Hopefully all three can be competitive and we can win some races during our stay.”
