Camden horseman Jarrod Alchin will send his talented mare Tamanisha to the paddock after Saturday night’s meeting at Tabcorp Park Menangle. The former kiwi mare has won five of her six starts since arriving in Australia and Alchin believes she deserves a short let-up.

“Tamanisha has earned a break after the job she has done since arriving, after the short spell she will come back and I will look at the feature races for the mares in the early part of 2013,” Alchin said.

“She may not measure up to that class, only time will tell but I think she deserves a chance at that level, I had spoken to Michael Radley about a possible trip to Perth for the new Gr. 1 at Gloucester Park but after discussing it with the owner we have decided to remain at home because she can get on a knee around the smaller tracks.”

Tamanisha is not the only leading chance for Alchin at Saturday night’s meeting with both Brookfield Ruler and Niraadi engaged in race three.

“I still have to decide which horse I am going to drive but they are both great hopes, Brookfield Ruler has been great winning two recently in sub 1:54 and from the draw is going to be very hard to beat.”

“I haven’t given Niraadi a start yet, he is a former kiwi that John and Robert Dunn had and his connections have sent him over to Australia, I trialled him at Menangle last week and he finished behind Roman Stride but it was a pretty quiet run because he hadn’t been with me long.”

Alchin met John and Robert Dunn last year when he travelled to North America as part of an organised tour.

“I went over to America with HRNSW and John and Robert were over there supporting Dexter Dunn in the World Driving Championship and we struck up a friendship, I was in New Zealand three weeks ago, met up again and received a call from them not long after I got home offering me the chance to train this horse, hopefully it won’t be the last.”
