Shane Tritton is Albion Park bound for the Qld Derby this Saturday night.
Newcastle’s Shane Tritton has chalked up plenty of miles and plenty of winners in the last few weeks and that trend looks set to continue over the next few days.
Tritton is currently on route to Qld with a fresh team of runners after bringing a team back to his Keinbah property on Tuesday. He trialled a few at Newcastle last night then set off early this morning for Albion Park. His main mission is the Qld Derby this Saturday night where he has qualified Nickel Plated Tabman and Highview Oban.
He also has All About Art which is first emergency. Tritton has a big opinion of Highview Oban.
The promising three-year-old son of Elsu has notched up a hat trick of wins at Newcastle including a thrilling last to first win last Friday night. This is a big step up in class but Tritton felt he deserved his chance in a good race.
He is also confident of a big run from stable mate Nickel Plated Tabman. The Red River Hanover gelding is coming off two solid performances at Menangle and from barrier three Tritton is hoping the horse can use his good gate speed to press for the lead and give his connections a bold sight. Tritton has trained 11 winners at Newcastle, Albion Park and Gold Coast since the 28th June and he looks to have an unassailable lead in this year’s Newcastle trainer’s premiership sitting 25 clear of his nearest rival in Rodney Pike.
