HRNSW is pleased to announce Andrew Ray as Head Steward – Western Districts.
Andrew Ray comes to Harness Racing NSW with a wealth of experience in integrity management after beginning his career as a cadet steward under Ray Murrihy at Racing NSW a number of years ago.
Integrity Manager, Reid Sanders said: “The main reason for having Andrew Ray stationed in the district, apart from taking control of race meetings, is to enable him to supervise trials, make unannounced stable inspections and work with our vets with out of competition testing.
“He is just going to provide a presence in the district which is going to increase our general surveillance in those areas.
“It will alleviate a bit of travel for our staff from Sydney all the time, which is obviously a load on our current resources, and I’m hoping it will bring a saving for the industry.
“By having the same steward in the district all the time we think it will bring an increased level of understanding horses’ form because he is going to be a regular fixture at all those meetings so he is going to know all those horses going around at meetings in that area.”
Ray will commence his position as of 30 July.
