Sue Hunter.
Fresh from a Breeders Challenge Gr. 1 winning double at Tabcorp Park Menangle on Sunday afternoon, the Susan Hunter stable will return to Victoria chasing more feature race success with talented pair Louvre and Married To The Mob. Hunter became the first trainer to prepare both a male and female to clean sweep the Breeders Challenge Finals after Louvre joined Captain Joy as a winner of the two and three year old features.
“The stable had a very big day and the entire Sloys team (owners) were very happy with both of the results,” stable representative Michael Doltoff said.
“Louvre will go back to Victoria for the Australian Oaks, the Breeders Crown and after a short break will return to Menangle again as soon as possible. I wish they had a track like Menangle in Victoria, 1000 metre tracks are completely outdated, the quicker they build a 1400 metre track in Victoria the better.”
Two year old Aces N Sevens filly Married To The Mob will also be aimed at the Breeders Crown series and despite winning as an $11 chance on Sunday was given a strong hope by the stable.
“Married To The Mob wasn’t totally unexpected, the stable had a dabble at $11 or $12 so we were quietly confident and in the end the result went our way.”
“She will get ready for the Breeders Crown but will go home and have a week or so off in the paddock to get over last weekend, she’s a nice filly and really underrated I think but she proved on Sunday that with the right run she is very capable of winning a big race.”
Doltoff was full of praise for driver Luke McCarthy who partnered both fillies on Sunday.
“Luke’s a great driver, he is driving in plenty of races and knows when to put them into the action, he drove three Gr. 1 winners on Sunday and that isn’t a fluke.”
