Australasias two premier trotting mares, Sumthingaboutmaori and Allegro Agitato (pictured), are set to wage war in Friday nights Group 1 Bill Collins Mile at Moonee Valley after both drew coveted inside alleys.

Sumthingaboutmaori, the reigning Inter Dominion champion, will start from gate one in the $50,000 feature, whilst Allegro Agitato, the lone New Zealand raider, has drawn to issue a serious challenge for the lead in gate three.

Renowned as a brilliant mobile beginner, Allegro Agitato is out to continue the remarkable record of New Zealand-trained trotters in the Bill Collins Mile, the Kiwis having captured eight of the nine titles contested.

The Bryan Healy-trained Sumthingaboutmaori, a good thing beaten in this race 12 months ago, is out to restore her all-conquering image after a series of below-par performances during a recent New Zealand campaign.

Whilst the glamour duo will dominate pre-race discussion and betting, in-form local Sammy Do Good, a winner at four of his past five starts, cannot be underestimated for leading father and daughter team Peter Manning and Kerryn Gath.

The field for the $50,000 Bill Collins Mile (1609m), to be run at 8.47pm on Friday, is;
