Grand Circuit Champion; Im Themightyquinn with trainer Gary Hall

The 2010/11 Barastoc Grand Circuit pacing series ended in a thrilling finish.

The two prized pacers vying for the top honour of ‘Grand Circuit Champion’ fought out the finish of the final leg, the Gr.1 $800,000 Sky City Auckland Inter Dominion Grand Final at Alexandra Park, Auckland on Friday night.

Rugged Victorian star Smoken Up defeated West Australian freak Im Themightyquinn in the feature but it was the latter that lasted to snare the overall title for the current season.

Im Themightyquinn finished the season with 19 points, just one point clear of Smoken Up who ended his season with 18 points.

Both pacers won three Grand Circuit races each, Im Themightyquinn won the Fremantle, WA and Auckland Cups whilst Smoken Up won the Miracle Mile, SA Cup and the Inter Dominion Pacing Grand Final.

Im Themightyquinn competed in six of the fifteen Grand Circuit events whilst Smoken Up contested five of the features throughout the season.

The top five on the Barastoc Grand Circuit this season are;

Im Themightyquinn – 19 points

Smoken Up – 18

Mr Feelgood – 12

Monkey King – 10

Stunin Cullen – 10

Congratulations to the connections of Im Themightyquinn, trainer Gary Hall and drivers Gary Hall Jnr. plus Kim Prentice and Nathan Jack who also handled the gelding during the season.
