The HRA Inter Dominion colors auction is certainly generating a great deal of interest from all points of Australia and New Zealand as well as enquiries from some other overseas racing jurisdictions. As expected Blacks A Fake leads the way in interest, but like the race itself there may be plenty of swoopers that will make a lightning run in the auction stakes. As with any well timed run these can fail so the proven strategy of getting in early and establishing a big lead is one that bidders need to consider!
A couple of sets have not yet registered a bid. We hope that these horses do not suffer from any sort of inferiority complex. We are sure that their supporters will soon come to the fore.
So far the auction proceeds are in excess of $13,000 with still 30 hours of bidding time to go.
A further note to the auction - bidders need to be aware that the nominated drivers in the auction list may change and it is recommended that you check the final fields to see who is driving each horse. This does not in any way detract from the value of the colors as these are unique and have been specifically commissioned for this event.
Remember all proceeds are going to the Red Cross Christchurch Earthquake Appeal, so dig deep.
