Dixon Factor; ace Queensland driver Grant Dixon has registered another century of wins
Gun reinsman Grant Dixon has become the first Queenslander to drive a century of winners for the 2010/11 season.
Dixon achieved the milestone when successful in the first race at Redcliffe last night (Wednesday) aboard Marshall Jujon who is trained by his father Bill.
Ace Victorian driver Daryl Douglas is the only other driver in the country who has driven more winners this season.
Douglas has booted home 153 winners already this season.
Fellow Victorians Chris Alford and Kerryn Manning who regularly appear in the winners’ circle have both driven more than 70 winners already this season.
It would come as no surprise that Dixon is once again the leading driver in Queensland because the softly spoken reinsman has been dominating in the ‘SunshineState’ since the 2006/07 season.
Since becoming the leading driver in the state, Dixon has set a frantic speed with his winners and has now registered thirteen century seasons including four doubles.
During his reign as the state’s leading driver in the past five seasons, Dixon has driven more than 970 winners.
Dixon enjoyed a career best season during the 09/10 season where he reined home 242 winners and again it looks like he will challenge that mark given his current rate this term.
The nearest rival to Dixon in Queensland this season is rising star Peter McMullen who has booted home 76 winners to date.
Champion South Australian driver David Harding looks set to be the next reinsman to register a century this season as he currently sits with 83 winners.
Shannon Suvalkjo has driven 76 winners this season and holds a four win lead over Chris Lewis in the ‘West’ whilst Greg Bennett leads the New South Wales premiership race with 65 victories leading comfortably from Ashlee Siejka who has 41 winners to date.
In the Apple Isle, young gun Gareth Rattray has driven 34 winners and is a clear leader from Nathan Ford who has 17 winners to his credit so far this season.
