The 2010 Wrest Point Tasmania Cup promises to be an interesting affair.

The $100,000 Hobart feature boasts an honour roll with some of the greats including the likes of Halwes, Chamfer's Star, Jack Morris, Golden Reign, Tailamade Lombo, Shakamaker and Thorate to name just a few.

Kiwi raider Bettors Strike took honours last years for Cran Dalgety and Dexter Dunn.

And this year's edition is wide open with many bringing strong form lines to the table heading into Sunday's feature.

Exciting local Gedlee is currently taking all before him including an emphatic victory in last weekend's City of Launceston Cup leaving quality rivals in his wake.

The Time Stands Still 4yo is unbeaten this season from five starts for Philip and Samuel Rawnsley and has drawn perfectly in gate two.

Gedlee shot to prominence last season when he finished second in the Australian and Tasmanian Derby's behind Queensland colt Lanercost.

The last Tasmanian trained and driven pacer to capture the state's biggest event was Prodigious for Barrie Rattray in 2001.

This year, there are four locally trained pacers entered for the event.

Aside from Gedlee, Dodgermemate, Dance Of The Deity and Our Sir Jeckyl will also represent the Apple Isle.

As per normal, interest from Victoria is high with seven entrants entered whilst the Brian Hancock trained Vegas Bound is representing the state of New South Wales.

The X-factor runner from Victoria is the Dean Braun trained Our Chain Of Command who is resuming since winning the Melton Cup back on August 6.

The New Zealand bred gelding has won five from six since crossing the Tasman and trialled impressively at Melton on Monday night when a close second to Captain Joy in neat time.

Our Chain Of Command has drawn ideally in gate one and will be handled by champion driver Chris Alford.

Veteran pacer Cincinnati Kid is coming off a ninth placed effort in last week's Victoria Cup won by former North American Mr Feelgood.

The former Ballarat Cup winner will be handled by his trainer/driver Mark Peace and will start from gate ten.

Village Of Dreams who won the 2009 Australian Derby in Tasmania will also start off the second line along with emerging star mare Glenferrie Alexis and Ti Vogliobene.

The Gunstar fared poorly and will start from the outside of the front row whilst Thomas Pyke drew awkwardly in gate four.

Vegas Bound who was placed in the Bankstown Treuer Memorial two starts ago fared well with a good draw and will start from gate three with Darren Hancock booked to drive once again.

The Wrest Point Tasmania Cup returns to mobile conditions this year after being staged as a standing start since 2001.

The Tasmania Cup has been part of the Barastoc Grand Circuit since 1977.
