Connections will be hoping its third time lucky when Sokyola (pictured) steps out as the hot favourite in Sunday?s $100,000 Mallia Builders Kilmore Pacing Cup.

The Lance Justice-trained pacer was fourth in 2001, before finishing seventh behind Western Light when one of the popular elects 12 months ago. He enters the 40th running of the nation?s premier country cup having won 14 of his last 15 appearances.

With its elevation to Group 1 status this year on the back of a $30,000 stakes increase, the ?Melbourne Cup of Harness Racing? has attracted a stellar line-up.

Joining Sokyola trackside is defending champion Western Light, 2002 runner-up Gold King, Inter Dominion finalist Thorpedo, Hunter Cup placegetter Unique Icon, Geelong Cup winner Country Ways, dual Group 1 winner and comeback kid Franco Heir, cult hero Wally Walton and American-owned pacing sensation Easy Dash.

The field for the $100,000 Mallia Builders Kilmore Pacing Cup (Group 1), a standing start event over 3150 metres to be run at 4.20pm (AEST) on 26 October, is;
