MANY of New South Wales’ most successful breeders have thrown their weight behind the 2021 Bathurst Gold Crown Yearling Sale, to be conducted by Graeme Board & Co at the Gold Crown Paceway on Sunday, March 21.

Heading the list of vendors is Janet and Doug Moore and Ben and Melanie Settree’s Brooklyn Lodge, who are offering 16 yearlings including a half-sister to the Bathurst Gold Bracelet placegetter Brooklyns Best, a half-brother to the Gold Chalice heat winner Brads Luck, a half-sister to the Gold Tiara runner-up Bella Jam Jam, a filly out of the prolific Menangle winner Miss Artistic Tara (1:52.3) and a colt from the Breeders Challenge Regional 2YO Final winner Whispering Lass.

Maitland studmaster-breeder Paul Carmody, of Lochend Stud, has a draft of 15 including a dozen by the Artsplace horse Shoobee’s Place, the sire of the classic winners Shoobee Doo, Katchar Shoobee and Merrywood Lynn.

Yirribee Pacing Stud, Wagga has entered 10 yearlings by seven different sires including three by last season’s leading NSW first-crop sire Warrawee Needy and fillies by Sweet Lou and Tintin In America.

Young breeders David and Rachel Micallef have a four-strong consignment – all out of race-winning mares, while the Dumesny brothers Tony, Bruce and John, are all represented at the sale.

Golden Gait Stud, of Wayne and Anne Lamb, and Darren Reay’s Medowie Lodge and Gunning breeder Rikki Cernovskis have all nominated three yearlings.

Other well known breeders with entries include Denis and Jo Howe, Elite Bloodstock, Graeme Gourley, Nathan Varcoe, Matt and Michael Leary, Margot Lennox and John Coffey’s Patrician Park.

The sale will be livestreamed with online bidding available.
