Three-year-old colt Denwen Dancer lived up to the potential he had shown on the trial track when he broke his maiden status in Launceston on Sunday night.

The Mark Reggett-trained colt had galloped his last two outings but did everything right to score in the Dakin Refrigeration Maiden.

From a wide draw driver, Mark Yole pushed forward and had a look for the lead before ending up one-out and one-back in the 1680-metre event.

Yole pealed the Sutter Hanover colt three-wide at the top of the home straight to race away and score by 6.9 metres in a slick 1m 58.4s.

Two heats of the Harry Holgate Memorial were also held with Rockandahardplace scoring a 3.4 metre all the way win for in-form reinsman Wade Rattray.

The gelded son of Pet Rock once again did it from the front end bowling along the final three quarters in 29.9s 28.7s and 30.3s.

Heat two was won by Postal Run who was driven patiently by Mark Yole to defeat the race favourite Kadar by a half neck with both pacers coming from last at the 800 metres in a 60.7s last half mile, although the mile rate was quicker than the other heat in 1m 59.9s.

The Harry Holgate Final will be held on Friday night in Launceston..

Reinsman Adrian Collins due to undergo surgery on Monday due to injuries sustained in a fall in race two.

Collins fractured his ankle when the horse he was driving Gypsy Hustler appeared to be interfered with before falling over the concluding stages.

The mare was transported to the Longford Equine Clinic where she was later put down due to injuries sustained during the fall.

Weerrook Harry also fell in the incident with driver Ricky Duggan being dislodged from the sulky with both horse and driver avoiding serious injury.
