It is a big night of harness racing in Devonport on Sunday night. The Group 3 Hardings Hotmix Devonport Pacing Cup headlines a massive 10-race card that also features the Tasfreight Dash For Cash, Ladbrokes Mares Incentive and the Jeremy Rockliff MP Coastal Pacing Thousand.

Before we get there, we have a seven-race card in Launceston on Friday night.

But first, let’s look back at the past week that included Tisu Spirit taking out the North-Eastern Pacing Cup at Carrick Park on Friday, Saturday saw Karalta Kruise continue on his winning way over on King Island where he recorded his fifth win over the summer season. Then the actioned turned to Hobart where Rodney Ashwood, Ray Pullen and Hannah Van Dongen walked away with doubles.

On Wednesday night at Geelong, reinswoman Taylor Ford recorded her first Victorian win, continuing on a long list of junior participants to try their luck north of Bass Strait.

The Stars

Tisu Spirit – warmed up for Sunday’s Devonport Pacing Cup with an all the way win in Friday’s North-Eastern Pacing Cup at Carrick Park. Trainer-driver Mark Yole was able to find the lead on the six-year-old American Ideal gelding with his rivals unable to run him down in the 2650-metre event.

Rodney Ashwood – trained the first and last winner on the Hobart card. Four-year-old gelding Lorimermajor won his first race since arriving in the state to lead all the way in the opening race before Truscott Hall delivered a minor upset in the trotters event.

Ray Pullen – has been doing an excellent job with his team in recent months and that run continued with a training double on Sunday with Castor Troy and Gipsy Treasure, both horses were driven by Hannah Van Dongen.

Troy McDonald– extended his lead in the early stages of the state drivers Premiership with four-weekend winners including a treble at Carrick Park on Friday.

Iden Forest – continued on his winning way from an injury-enforced lay off, recording another dominant win in Hobart on Sunday.

Lockaway Kacie – was the toughest winning performance of the weekend when scoring in a 65 to 74 event over the mile trip. Trainer-driver Paul Williams was three-wide the journey on the eight-year-old mare who was too good for her rivals despite the tough run.
