SOUTHERN CROSS EXCITEMENT KICKS-OFF AT GLOBE DERBY

 
   

One of the highlights of the South Australian harness racing calendar, the, much anticipated `Southern Cross Race Series’ kicks off tomorrow night at Globe Derby Park. The series being deferred from May as a consequence of the Covid pandemic.

The Southern Cross, which is restricted to two and three-year-old pacers and trotters, highlights the best juveniles either trained or owned by South Australians, with this year’s entrants being arguably one of the strongest, and most even assembled.

Tomorrows heats lead in to Saturday week’s (5th December) finals which will also be conducted at Globe Derby Park.

Details regarding the composition of each final are:

 

3YO PACING FILLIES FINAL

  • 10 runners plus an emergency
  • First 5 in each heat (2 heats)
  • Fastest 6th is the emergency

3YO PACING COLTS & GELDINGS FINAL

  • 10 runners plus an emergency
  • First 3 in each heat plus fastest 4th (3 heats)
  • Second fastest 4th is the emergency

 

2YO PACING COLTS & GELDINGS FINAL

  • 9 runners plus an emergency
  • First 4 in each heat (2 heats) plus fastest 5th
  • Slowest 5th is the emergency

2YO PACING FILLIES FINAL

  • 9 runners plus an emergency
  • First 3 in each (3 heats)
  • Fastest 4th – is the emergency

 

2YO TROTTERS

  • 9 runners
  • Heats not required as all 9 acceptors progress to the final

 

3YO TROTTERS

  • 6 runners
  • Heats not required as all 6 acceptors progress to the final

 

HRSA will publish a complete list of qualifiers (in qualifying order) on Monday 30th November 2020.

Please Note: Acceptances for all finals close at 9:00am on Wednesday 2nd December 2020.
