The leading fancies for Friday night’s Westral-Mares Classic (2536m) have been dealt difficult draws in a race which now looks even more open.

Norms Daughter Classic winner Wainui Creek was the hardest hit by the draw, coming up with barrier nine.

Balcatherine, who was an impressive winner on Friday night, won’t have a much easier task to win the event from barrier 12 for Fremantle Cup winning duo Gary Hall Snr and Gary Hall Jnr.

Somebeachparty emerged as a Mares Classic contender last Friday night when second to Balcatherine and looks to have fared well with barrier 10.

Arma Indie will start between Somebeachparty and Balcatherine on the back line in barrier 11.

Defending champion Gotta Go Gabbana was another to be hurt by the draw in barrier seven.

2019 WA Oaks winner Has No Fear drew barrier one for the $125,000 feature and looks set to get a wonderful opportunity to add another Group 1 to her tally.

Now under the care of Jocelyn Young, Has No Fear rounded out her preparation for the Mares Classic with a seventh placing in the Norms Daughter Classic.

Typhoon Tiff has shown good gate speed recently and could get a chance to work her way to the front from barrier four.

Aiden De Campo will have two runners in the race with Millwood Molly and Mandy Joan coming up with barriers three and five respectively.

Vivere Damore (barrier two), Queen Shenandoah (six) and Talkerup (eight) make up the rest of the field, while Rosies Ideal and Suzies Gem are the two emergencies.
