Dance Ready For The Big Stage At The Creek

20 November 2020 | Chris Barsby

Could the 2020 Queensland summer carnival be the perfect springboard to stardom for Blacksadance?

The Albion Park Harness Racing Club will host three feature nights of racing starting on Saturday week (November 28) before climaxing on December 12 with the running of the Gr.1 $175,660 TAB Blacks A Fake, a Grand Circuit event.

But racing at ‘The Creek’ during the carnival caters for all ages and class and the local talent are ready to take on all comers on their home turf.

And many seasoned judges believe Blacksadance is destined for bigger and better things.

The Chantal Turpin and Pete McMullen prepared pacer makes his return to racing this Saturday night in preparation for features throughout the carnival.

The big-striding three-year-old has not raced since his gallant effort in the Gr.2 South East Derby back on July 18 when third behind Governor Jujon and stablemate Will The Wizard.

But judging by his two recent trials at Albion Park, the rising star looks set for a winning return.

Blacksadance will start from the inside gate in the $13,000 Ultimate Tools 3yo Pace (Race 5) over the 2138m which has drawn together a quality line-up.

“While Pete will probably disagree with me, I believe he’s the most exciting horse in our stable. I don’t say that lightly either but this guy just keeps improving with time and maturity and his work indicates he’s set for a big campaign, he looks really hard to beat this weekend.” Turpin said.

The gelded son of A Rocknroll Dance was a runner-up behind stablemate Mattgregor in his first trial back on November 5 before scoring comfortably the following week.

He rated 1:54.7 while finishing off in 26.9 seconds defeating Governor Jujon and Northview Hustler.

Blacksadance is raced by his breeder, John Polson.

Throughout the carnival, Blacksadance will tackle QBRED features where he will meet strong opposition.

The Turpin/McMullen stable boast plenty of exciting young talent spearheaded by Blacksadance while other key runners inlcude Miss Ruby Sunshine, Will The Wizard, Major Fernco and Millwood Tilly while two-year-old talent rests with last Gr.1 winner Big Wheels and Dance In The Sun.

On Saturday night, the club will host a solid 11 race program featuring the second round of heats for the Darrell Alexander Memorial Trotting Championship Series.

The Gr.2 $30,770 DJA final is scheduled for Saturday week, the official opening night of the summer carnival.

Racing gets underway on Saturday night at 5.13pm.
