New Zealand import Demand Respect will be out to end the winning run of Tasmanian filly Bridwood Bella in the Carlton Draught Two Year Old, the last race on tonight’s Launceston card.

Bridwood Bella is undefeated after two career starts.

She broke the two-year-old fillies track record in Launceston on debut in 1m 57.4s on 21 June when scoring by 17.5 metres before repeating the dose on 20 September when proving too tough for her rivals by 18.1 metres on 20 September.

Both races were over the 1680 metre trip.

Since her most recent effort, the Auckland Reactor filly has won a Carrick Park trial on 12 October.

In that trial, she was restrained from her wide draw before gaining a one by one trail into the trial over the final 700 metres to score under a stronghold by reinsman Conor Crook by one-metre in 2m 9.6s for the 2150 metre journey.

Demand Respect is a recent stable acquisition to the Juanita McKenzie stable after being previously trained by the lethal Mark Purdon and Natalee Rasmussen training partnership in New Zealand.

The Bettors Delight gelding is out of the Sokys Atom mare Nitouche Franco and had two starts in the land of the long white cloud.

He finished seventh on debut at Addington on 7 August before scoring at Oamaru on 16 August.

That event was staged over 2000 metres where the gelding settled one-out and one-back, and when another runner progressed around the field in the middle stages, driver Tim Williams elected to work around to the spot outside the leader for the final 1000 metres where she went on to score in a mile rate of 1m 57.9s with the last half mile ran in 57.1s.

The only time Demand Respect has been seen in Australia was in a Hobart trial on 5 October where she finished the trial off nicely when defeated 12.8 metres by Nova Baxter in 1m 59.0s.

Ricky Dugan took the reins in that trial and will do so again tonight.

Tonight’s seven-race card commences at 18:14 and is the first of two meetings this week, with the Tasmanian Trotting Club hosting an eight-race card on Tuesday evening.
