Wednesday night harness racing continues to prove a hit with punters with early indications proving strong turnover results on Wednesday’s Launceston meeting.

While Mystic Journey and The Inevitable are flying the Tasmanian flag across Bass Strait in the thoroughbred world, the states Standardbreds continue to fly the Tasmanian flag, headlined by Max Delight who was awarded the Australian Three Year Old Horse Of The Year.

Former Tasmanian Justin Campbell registered his first win since relocating to Victoria when Rakiura Rock won at Ballarat on Thursday night.

This week we have trials in Hobart and Devonport on Monday night before Wednesday night harness racing returns to Hobart.

Max Delight won nine races during the season including the New South Wales and Tasmanian Derbies and the Breeders Crown. The Bettors Delight entire is raced by East Devonport’s Michael Maxfield.

Rohan Hillier –  had a night out in Launceston on Wednesday night with a training double, with the Beauty Point-based horseman driving a treble on the card. Hillier’s two wins as a trainer were Awayandrideyourself who continues to take all before him and Giftofjoy who won first-up from an injury forced layoff.

Paul Ashwood – took three horses to Launceston and returned home with a training double. The first of his winners were Miracle Marcus who was a tough effort after working forward to find the lead, with stablemate Blingittothemax scoring an all the way victory later in the night.

Illegal Immigrant – continued on his winning way with another brilliant win. The gelded son of American Ideal once again sat back in the field before using his fast-finishing sprint to score in the 2698-metre standing start event.

Popnduke –  after three placings the Time Stands Still gelding returned to the winner’s list with an all the way win. The six-year-old gelding recorded a career-best mile rate of 1m 57.8s.
