Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) Stewards have received an update from Racing NSW Stewards in respect of the presence of the Anabolic Androgenic Steroid testosterone in a bottle of Omeprazole 100mg/mL injection manufactured by BOVA Australia used for the management of gastric ulcers.
In that notice, trainers and veterinarians were warned to immediately stop the use and dispensing of that product until further notice.
It has come to the attention of Racing NSW Stewards that BOVA Australia has issued a notice dated 21 June 2019 in which it advises that it is making that product available for sale again.
The position has not changed since the warning issued jointly between Racing NSW and BOVA Australia on 6 June 2019. Racing NSW has not cleared the Omeprazole 100mg/mL injection manufactured by BOVA Australia for possession or use.
Trainers and their veterinarians are reminded of AHRR 190A(4) and AHRR 190AA(1), that it is an offence for a person to have products containing an Anabolic Androgenic Steroid in their possession or to administer such product to a horse.
