EXCEPTIONALLY-BRED youngster Pelosi is favoured to go one better than her dam when she returns to Albion Park tomorrow night.

Registering a sensational victory in her Australian Pacing Gold heat at the same venue a fortnight ago, Pelosi is a short priced favourite for the $350,550 Final.

Pelosi heads the TAB Fixed Odds board at $1.90 for trainer Ana Woodmansey, with Jemstone her nearest rival at $3.20.

By American Ideal, Pelosi is from For Dear Life, which finished second behind Keppel Bay in the 2008 APG Final at Harold Park.

Keppel Bay was trained by Emma Stewart who prepares Jemstone. Stewart also has Lightning Lana in the Group One.

For Dear Life ventured to Albion Park in 2009 to secure the Three-Year-Old APG Final for trainer Wayne Honan.

Honan, who is Woodmansey’s partner, bred and owns Pelosi.

“Pelosi’s dam won an APG Final at Albion Park so hopefully it’s a good track for the family,” Woodmansey said.

“We hope Pelosi can go on with the job too.”

To be driven by John Cremin, Pelosi will begin from barrier two, with Jemstone to come from gate six.

Cremin partnered the two-year-old to capture her qualifier in 23 metres in a brilliant 1:53.3 over 1660 metres.

“She has drawn well in two which gives us options,” Woodmansey said. “I’ve never had a Group One starter before, let alone the favourite, so I’m pretty nervous and excited.

“She’s always had ability and impressed us with her runs and has been working well since her heat.”
