Harness Racing New South Wales (HRNSW) conducts the commercial and regulatory functions of the harness racing industry in NSW. Operating under the Harness Racing Act 2009, HRNSW is chartered to operate autonomously of government in managing the strategic and commercial development of harness racing in NSW as a not-for-profit corporate body. 

 

A full-time vacancy exists for an experienced Steward, located in or near Sydney. 

 

Reporting to the Chairman of Stewards the successful applicants will be required to undertake the following tasks:

*  Chair harness racing meetings within NSW

*  Participate as a member of Steward Panels at meetings throughout NSW

*  Conduct investigations and non-raceday inquiries

*  Attend trackwork and conduct stable inspections

*  Considerable travel will be required

 

The applicants should have the following skills:

*  Previous experience as a steward in the racing industry with a demonstrable in-depth knowledge of the Rules.

*  Ability to coach, mentor and counsel participants to achieve improved performance.

*  Advanced ability to conduct investigations, analyse data and to draw appropriate conclusions.

*  Self motivated and ability to work within tight deadlines and with a high degree of accuracy.

*  Superior written and verbal communications skills.

*  Commitment to ensuring that Integrity Division operates in a fair, honest and transparent manner

*  High level of computer literacy with particular regard to MS Office (specifically Excel) and Word (in a LAN environment)

*  Commitment to working in a team environment and adherence to the HRNSW Staff Policy Manual and Code of Conduct.

*  A current motor vehicle drivers licence and the retention of said licence is essential

 

The successful applicant will be provided a remuneration package based upon their relevant experience.
