Harness Racing New South Wales (HRNSW) conducts the commercial and regulatory functions of the harness racing industry in NSW. Operating under the Harness Racing Act 2009, HRNSW is chartered to operate autonomously of government in managing the strategic and commercial development of harness racing in NSW as a not-for-profit corporate body. 

 

A full-time vacancy exists in the Bankstown office for a Youth Development Officer.

 

The Youth Development Officer will be responsible for the implementation of strategies developed in liaison with the HRNSW Executive Management for the development of younger participants engaged in the NSW harness racing industry. These participants will range from participants in their initial five years as concession licensees and junior mini trot members.

 

Broad Strategies

*  The development and creation of pathways for persons to enter the harness racing industry.

*  To develop and implement approved strategies for new licensees and junior mini trot members 

   to advance their pathways in the industry.

*  Ensure HRNSW Mentoring Policy (635) is managed and adhered to in every respect by all 

   participants and relevant HRNSW personnel.

 

The above broad strategies will be achieved by:

*  Ensuring that all programs have relevant assets and funds allocation to enable participant development across the state. 

*  Liaison with Registered Training Organisations and other relevant educational institutions to develop life skills  courses for licensees.

*  Liaison with Registered Training Organisations and other relevant educational institutions to develop equine  courses for participants inclusive of mini trot members.

*  Liaison with the HRNSW Executive and Stewards to develop specific programs for young participants.

*  Development of communication mechanisms and forums for all participants.

*  Development of administrative systems and programs for concession licensees.

*  Assurance that ‘all care’ related Policies are adhered to by all participants and monitored by HRNSW personnel.

*  Development and implementation of welfare policies for concession licensees.

*  Development of pathway programs for mini trot participants to graduate to fully licensed participants inclusive of the transition through Maxi Trot programmes.

*  Provision of assistance to the NSW Mini Trot Association.

 

Required:

*  Applicants must encompass integrity, be highly motivated, have a high work ethic and be competent in the use of the MS Office (espically Excel and Word)in a LAN enviroment or the ability to learn these skills.

*  A current motor vehicle drivers licence and the retention of said licence is essential.

*  Working with Children Check. 

 

The successful applicant will be provided a remuneration package based upon their relevant experience.
