HARNESS Racing New South Wales (HRNSW) Stewards have been made aware that a number drivers are currently wearing approved body protectors inside out for comfort reasons.
Effective immediately, all approved body protectors must be correctly fitted whilst driving or riding a horse which does not include wearing the body protector inside out.
Drivers are advised that failure to comply with this requirement may result in a breach of AHRR 238 and penalties being imposed.
Australian Harness Racing Rule (AHRR) 238 states the following:
AHRR 238. A person shall not fail to comply with any order, direction or requirement of the Controlling Body or the Stewardsrelating to harness racing or to the harness racing industry.
Harness Racing NSW (HRNSW) is the controlling body for harness racing in New South Wales with responsibility for commercial and regulatory management of the industry including 33 racing clubs across the State. HRNSW is headed by a Board of Directors and is independent of Government.
