Ticket sales for the inaugural HRA National Conference on 14 December continue to build, with close to 100 delegates already registered, with the majority of these being Club administrators, regulators, kindred body representatives and horse owners.  In an effort to increase the number of licensed participants attending, HRA today announced a partnership with Garrard’s Horse and Hound for a $1000 voucher which will be awarded to one lucky attendee.

HRA Chairman, Mr Michael Taranto, paid tribute to Garrard’s for extending their initial sponsorship in this manner, “We are grateful for the support of so many sponsors who have gotten behind the Conference.  This additional generosity from Garrard’s Horse and Hound is designed to attract and encourage as many industry participants to attend as possible.  This is our first attempt at a Conference like this, so we want to give it every chance of success”.

The Youth Forum component of the conference is a dedicated session for emerging industry talent in Brittany Graham, Todd McCarthy, Brodie Webster, Mark Yole, Ashlea Brennan and Kima Frenning to share their unencumbered views on the industry and what they would like to see improve to help them as the new generation of leaders.  Facilitated by Mr Doug Freeman, Tabcorp Integration Lead for the Tabcorp/Tatts merger, this much anticipated session is expected to be a highlight of the Conference.

Mr Daren Garrard was only too happy to back the concept, “This initiative is great for our industry and I want to see a good crowd.  The Youth Forum is particularly important and it would be great to see as many licensed persons as possible attend, not only for themselves, but to hear from these participants and show their support for them”.

In more good news, Mr Taranto announced a new Conference sponsor, SBG Accountants and Business Advisors, who will sponsor the Conference lunch, “In a remarkably generous gesture, Paul Dobson from SBG contacted the HRA office off his own bat and offered assistance in any way he could.  Paul wanted to play a role in the success of the inaugural Conference and I’m pleased we have found that vehicle via the ‘SBG Accountants and Business Advisors Lunch’”.

Mr Dobson explained, “I could see what HRA were trying to achieve and I wanted to help.  As an industry, we need to be talking about these topics and working out ways to continually improve.  I hope it’s a great success and encourage anyone interested to register and attend”.

The National Conference is being held in the Skyline Room of the Hill Stand at Flemington Racecourse on Friday, 14 December from 10am.
