AUSTRALIAN Pacing Gold purchase Wrappers Delight rounded out his Inter Dominion preparation on a high at Tabcorp Park Melton last night.

Set to be kept fresh until the industry’s ‘Holy Grail’ begins on December 1, Wrappers Delight produced a dashing display to capture the Four and Five-Year-Old Championship.

Thrilled with the gelding’s performance, trainer David Aiken stated Wrappers Delight will not race again before the opening heats.

“That will do him before the Inter as far as racing goes,” Aiken said. “He’ll just be kept ticking along at home now and be ready for the first round.”

Driven by Kima Frenning, Wrappers Delight was pushed through from his second row draw to settle midfield as Wardan Express worked hard to find the front.

With Frenning pushing forward in search of the lead, the son of Bettors Delight took over the role as pacemaker with 1500 metres to travel.

Striding clear at the top of the home straight, Wrappers Delight completed a seven-and-a-half metre win from Diamonds N Cash, with Wardan Express battling on to be two metres away third.

“It was a top drive from Kima,” Aiken said. “From the second row she pushed through, held her position and stayed in front of the ones she had to.

“I’m very happy with the way he got to the line and now we just have to keep him at his peak for the Inter.”

Owned by Domenic Martello, the five-year-old rated 1:54.4 over 2240 metres, taking his record to 16 wins and 13 placings from 43 starts for earnings of $341,634.
