Aaron Bains Ideal World

PROMINENT trainer Aaron Bain hopes his stable star Ideal World can emerge triumphant at Globe Derby on Saturday night.

Along with the obvious reason of wanting to win, Bain is considering an interstate trip with the son of American Ideal.

Should Ideal World continue his strong form, Bain will escape the South Australian chill in preference for more favourable Queensland conditions.

“The Premiers’ Cup on July 7 looks like a pretty good option for him,” Bain said. “It’s a C2 to C5 event, which should suit him.

“I will get through this weekend and make a decision, but Queensland is definitely in the back of my mind.”

Thriving since arriving in SA, Ideal World has won seven of his nine local starts, with a second also in the mix.

“He’s done a great job since he got here,” Bain said. “He won five of his first six at the start of the season before going a bit sore.

“He had a suspected hairline fracture in his nearside hind fetlock last November so he was sent straight to the paddock.

“He went terrible when first-up at Whyalla, but it was also the same week we had a virus in the stable.

“He’s won his two subsequent starts and can hopefully get the hat-trick on Saturday night.”

To be driven by Ken Rogers, the gelding has drawn wide in barrier six.

Despite the difficult alley, Bain hinted Ideal World will be sent forward in search of the lead.

“He is very quick out of the gate and has got the speed to lead,” Bain said. “Friends is the biggest danger and I’m glad to have drawn inside him.”
